Cwmbran U11s claim pair of wins
10:21am Thursday 7th March 2013 in Sport
CWMBRAN U11s travelled to Aberdare on a bitterly cold morning for a round robin tournament.
Cwmbran’s first game against hosts Aberdare was a physical and at times bad tempered encounter.
Cwmbran quickly got on the board with a training ground manoeuvre sending Brennan Gait over in the corner.
Morgan Spence caught an Aberdare clearance kick and ran, from deep in Cwmbran’s half, straight through the Aberdare defence to score.
Further tries followed from Josef Cowell, Lewis Bates Will Reed and Lewis Hughes- Evans to make the final score 30-0 to Cwmbran.
In their second game Cwmbran started strongly against Brecon quickly getting points on the board froma Lewis Bates interception and try, quickly followed by two great swerving runs and tries from Will Reed.
Cwmbran then seemed to go off the boil giving possession to Brecon by failing to get to the tackle area quickly and missing a lot of tackles, letting Brecon to score two tries in quick succession.
Another great run from Will Reed just before halftime relieved the pressure on Cwmbran and gave Will a deserved hat trick.
Cwmbran seemed to wake up and start playing rugby again in the second half with another great try from Will Reed and Joseph Cowell bulldozing through to score.
Cwmbran followed this up with tries from, Brennan Gait, Joel Doughty, Lewis Hughes- Evans and Morgan Spence to make the final score 50-10 to Cwmbran.
Cwmbran: Josef Cowell, Jordan Walters, Tommy Maclean, Byron Mutlow, Connor Bollon, Brennan Gait, Alex Morgan, Tomas Alcock, Joel Doughty, Morgan Spence, Will Reed, Lewis Bates, Ethan Griffiths, Lewis Hughes- Evans, Mathias Davies and Jordan Maynard.
