NETBALL: Abergavenny A v Silurians

ABERGAVENNY A got off to a slow start with the Silurians strong attacking and defending taking Abegavenny by surprise putting Silurians in the lead by 10 goals to Abergavennys 7 in the first quarter.
Abergavenny A stepped up the game in the second quarter with strong attacking by Andrea Prosser and some amazing shooting by Amy Elizabeth Woollin and Kelly Morris putting Abergavenny A in the lead at 23 goals to Silurians 19 at half time.
Abergavenny A had a quick swap around of positions bring on Ffion Edwards as centre and moving Kathryn Bowen to WA allowed for an injection of pace around the circle, but still the Silurians kept on Abergavenny’s heels with Abergavenny only leading by one goal at 29 - 28 by the end of the third quarter.
Abergavenny A maintained their fast pace and accurate pas...sing well into the last quarter, with new coach Stuart Stenhouse fitness regime obviously paying off! Accurate shooting by Debbie Gwilliam and Amy Elizabeth Woollin kept Abergavenny looking strong. Strong defence by Siobhan MacQuillan and Jessica Davies, and persistent intercepting by Ceris Van de Vyver helped keep Abergavenny A in front allowing them to win the game 37-34.
Player of the match was Siobhan MacQuillian and captain's player Kathryn Bowen.
