Monmouth School makes history
FOR the first time in the competition’s history, Monmouth School have a team represented in all three Mercian League cup finals.
The Mercian League is an Independent Schools Football Association (ISFA) competition that comprises seventeen other independent schools. Monmouth School’s 1st XI have clinched, in emphatic style, the Southern Mercian League title and went forward to today’s final, along with the 2nd XI and Under-15 teams,, at Ludlow Football Club where they will face the Northern Mercian League finalists.
Success is also being celebrated throughout the other teams at Monmouth School, with 46 of the 50 matches played resulting in either a win or draw, the best season on record .
Dan Taylor, from the Under-14a team, is currently training with the Welsh national squad and has an excellent chance of being selected in the final Under-16 Welsh Victory Shield squad for 2014.
Monmouth School has an excellent coaching staff currently guided by lead coach Steve Jenkins, an ex-professional and Welsh international footballer who secured 20 caps for his country.
