Tovey set to get Ospreys all-clear
FLY-HALF Jason Tovey should be fit to feature for Newport Gwent Dragons in their RaboDirect Pro12 derby against the Ospreys on Friday evening, writes Chris Kirwan.
The 24-year-old suffered a blow to the head when attempting to tackle Samoan powerhouse flanker Alafoti Fa'osiliva in the Amlin Challenge Cup defeat to Bath last weekend.
He was led from the field and monitored by medical staff but was able to train with his Dragons teammates today and looks set to get the green light for the Liberty Stadium.
"We are very cautious when it comes to concussion, which is a horrible experience and something that has been underestimated through the years," said director of rugby Lyn Jones.
"Jason came off at Bath as a precautionary measure but feeling much better in training and should be fine for the Ospreys."
Tovey, who is battling for starts with Kris Burton and Steffan Jones, has made an impressive return to the region after an ill-fated season with Cardiff Blues.
The left-footer has formed an excellent half-back partnership with fellow summer recruit Richie Rees, starting five of seven games and racking up 47 points.
