Blues manager Ryan Durham brought Alex Bull in to the side for the suspended Brad Jones and Chris Jones for keeper Lee Jones who was ill.
Blues made a sensational start and went two up in ten minutes. Matt Burns’s perfect cross was tapped in by Lloyd Jeffries and from the kick off, Iiltyd Caddicks cross found Burns unmarked inside the box, he made no mistake to put his side two up.
It was all Blues and Burns went close, Jeffries shot across the face of the goal.
Craig Tanners headed clearance found Rob Thomas, the midfielder’s well struck shot was well saved by David Pearce in the Wasps goal.
Wasps came back into the game as half time approached they were awarded a penalty, Colin Evans’ well struck spot kick was brilliantly saved by Blues keeper Chris Jones, but unfortunately Blues players had encroached and the penalty was retaken, this time Evans made no mistake to put his side back in the game.
Early into the second half and Blues regained their two goal cushion, skipper Mike Waite made a good tackle in the Wasps’ half, played an easy ball into Jeffries path and the youngster finished in style putting his shot into the far corner of the net.
Back came Clydach and full back Mark Taylor made it two three to the visitors with a cross shot which deceived Blues keeper Jones.
Burns and Jeffries combined for Burns to score his second and the Blues fourth goal. Burns had two chances to score a hat trick, firstly hitting a post then shooting wide after great approach work from Waite.
Blues might have scored a fifth, a well worked corner from Caddick was flicked on by Jeffries for Waite’s effort to be cleared off the line.
Sub Jim Cox was next to test Pearce after playing a one two with Burns.
Jamie Blankley’s fine run saw Alistair Paton making a last ditch challenge on Burns.
Cox made a searching run down the left flank before pulling the ball back to Brankley, Brankley squared the ball to Waite who was brought down on the edge of the box. Caddick’s free kick was fractionally too high.
A good performance by the Blues who move up to fifth in the division.
