NEWPORT Gwent Dragons wing Tom Prydie is going to be out of action until the final few games of the season because of ankle ligament damage.

The 21-year-old Wales speedster was forced off in the first half of the region’s Amlin Challenge Cup defeat to Bath at Rodney Parade last weekend.

Scans have revealed that he will be out of action for between 10 and 12 weeks, setting him the target of the Dragons’ Millennium Stadium encounter with his old region the Ospreys on Sunday, April 20.

The news is better regarding fly-half Jason Tovey, who also needed a scan after limping off against Bath.

There is no serious damage to his knee and he could play against Northampton in the LV= Cup a week on Saturday, although the region is likely to instead give game time to Kris Burton and Steffan Jones.
