IT WAS a double win for Chepstow Harriers at the fourth Leisure Centre League Cross Country
The Harriers’ men and women were the winning teams at the cross country race held in Cwmbran on Sunday.
There were 10 local running clubs competing and Chepstow were pleased to be placed first.
A total of 42 Chepstow Harriers competed in the race.
This was the penultimate race in a series of five. Chepstow’s men are top of the board having won three out of four races, and Chepstow’s women are leading with an unbroken record, having won all four races.
With just one race to go, it is looking like both teams will take the season’s cross country trophy.
The six top scoring men from Chepstow Harriers were James Blore, Richard Matthews, Stuart Penny, Andrew Mathias, Simon Dury and Laurie Carter.
The four top scoring women from Chepstow Harriers were Niki Morgan, Georgie Parnell, Vanessa Lawson and Judith Austerberry.
First in their age categories from Chepstow Harriers were Georgie Parnell, Judith Austerberry, Niki Morgan, Joc Dodd, Stuart Penny, Laurie Carter, Neil Grant and Dick Finch.
The final race in the series will be held on Sunday, March 9.
