THE Thomas, Carroll Glamorgan and Monmouthshire League cricket season gets under way on Saturday, a week before the Conference and the South Wales Premier League.

In Division One Abergavenny get their campaign started at home to Pontypridd, Chepstow host Newbridge,

Croesyceiliog travel to Penarth and Blackwood are at St Fagans, while Sudbrook take on Pentyrch and Usk welcome Tondu.

In Division Two Pontymister travel to Brecon, Malpas host Ebbw Vale, Newport Fugitives take on Miskin Manor and Rogerstone welcome Welsh Asians.

Following last season's title win Llanarth 1st XI will be competing in Welsh Club Cricket Conference Two for the 2014 season - starting at Crumlin on May 3.

The club's long serving chairman Keith Spencer has retired from the post and been succeeded by club veteran and all-time record run scorer Allan Dewfield.

And there will be changes at the top of the Llanarth batting order as well with the retirement of Simon Wharton and the departure of Sam Michell.

In the junior section Llanarth under-11s and under-13s will be playing in the Gwent Youth Cricket Leagues and the club is also hopeful of arranging under-9 fixtures.

Senior training is on Thursday evenings from 6pm and junior training takes place on Friday evenings. The club would welcome players of all ages and abilities for the new season.
