WALES flanker Dan Lydiate is set to be fit to take on South Africa in June, writes Chris Kirwan.
The former Newport Gwent Dragons blindside has been struggling with a hamstring injury and has not featured for Top 14 title hopefuls Racing Metro recently.
There were fears that the 26-year-old would not be fit for the two Tests against the Springboks but Lydiate is back running as is close to a return to action.
He will not feature in the Paris side's tough semi-final against Toulon on Friday but will get the green light to head to South Africa.
That will be of great relief to head coach Warren Gatland, who is already without flankers Sam Warburton and Justin Tipuric because of shoulder injuries. There is a chance that the chop-tackling blindside could switch to openside in a bid to combat the extremely physical Boks.
