GLAMORGAN have signed big-hitting West Indies ace all-rounder Darren Sammy on a short-term deal for the NatWest T20 Blast

The 30-year-old is set to link up with the county for six games, four of them at the Swalec Stadium, until heading back to the Caribbean.

Sammy is set to make his debut against Sussex in Cardiff on Friday and will be reunited with Glamorgan coach Toby Radford, who was assistant when the West Indies won the 2012 World Twenty20.

He has just finished played for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League and is fitting a spell with Glamorgan in before the West Indies’ one-day series against New Zealand and the Caribbean Premier League.

“Darren is top quality T20 player and a fine addition to our dressing room as he brings with him experience at the highest level,” said Radford.

“Darren was a leader on and off the field during my days with the West Indies, so it will be great to work with him again at Glamorgan.”

Sammy will be Glamorgan’s second overseas player for the T20 alongside South African batsman Jacques Rudolph.

Glamorgan won their opener at Hampshire before being beaten in Essex.
