MATTHEW Pewtner will wear 14 on his back against Bucharest this evening and the winger is happy to move around if it means more action for Newport Gwent Dragons, writes Chris Kirwan.

The 23-year-old made his regional debut in 2009 but last season was the first that he racked up more than a handful of games.

Director of rugby Lyn Jones gave him 15 appearances before a sinus problem ended his campaign in February.

He has proved to be a key member of the squad again in 2014/15 and has played in eight of the last nine games, even deputising in midfield to cover an injury crisis.

"I am really enjoying it, I've had a few games and the more I play the better I feel," said Pewtner.

"We've mixed it up in the back three this week and it will be exciting to see how the new combination goes with Tom at full-back and Hallam on the left wing and me moving to the right.

"That's probably where I've played most of my rugby but I am happy to go on the left and have even played 13 this season – I am happy to be on the field whatever number I have got on my back."

Pewtner was at the fore of the Dragons' fightback in Bucharest last weekend when they scored 37 unanswered points after trailing 10-0 in the opening stages.

He made one terrific claim from a restart and another superb break into enemy territory to help take the wind out of the Wolves' sails.

"Bucharest will raise their game and will have a lot of motivation after we beat them quite convincingly," said Pewtner. "They will want to prove a point and do us over so we have to be even better than last week.

"We won't take them lightly because we saw that they are a good outfit with strong parts to their game. We are going to give them the respect they deserve.

"We got a lot out of last week and I hope it will be the same tonight building towards the Guinness Pro12 (against Zebre at Rodney Parade and Cardiff Blues away and home)."
