CWMBRAN Celtic Ladies and Girls Club have received a funding boost thanks to players of the postcode lottery.

The ladies team gained promotion into the Welsh Premier league for the 2014/15 season, representing the club all over Wales.

Cwmbran Celtic was awarded money by People’s Postcode Trust, a grant giving charity, funded entirely by players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

The club will use the money to support players with travelling expenses, as well as supply the players with all necessary kit and equipment.

It will also contribute toward providing coaches with the education to deliver high-quality sessions.

The project will enable more women and girls to play the sport and be part of a team environment.

A clubs spokeswoman said: "It’s great to have help with our coach education so we can develop ourselves as leaders and then develop the players around us."

People’s Postcode Lottery is a charity lottery, where players play with their postcodes to win cash prizes while raising money for good causes.

As a charity lottery, 50p from every £2 ticket goes to support charities and good causes across England, Wales and Scotland including Peoples Postcode Trust.

A spokesperson for the charity said: "People’s Postcode lottery believes in supporting local communities so the money raised stays local to players."

The club encourages participation for women and girls of all abilities.
