NEWPORT Gwent Dragons fly-half Angus O’Brien has been called up by Wales Sevens for the tournaments in Hong Kong and Japan.

The 20-year-old will make his international debut on the HSBC Sevens World Series and is joined in the squad by regional teammate Luke Morgan and Newport back row forward Sam Cross.

Head coach Gareth Williams has also called in full internationals Rhodri Williams and Adam Warren from the Scarlets for what promises to be a tricky pool featuring England, Kenya and the USA in Hong Kong next weekend.

Wales have slipped to 11th in the world rankings but Williams is confident the influx of new talent will re-ignite his sides challenge.

"The boys have worked really hard in training and we hope to put a few wrongs right over the next couple of weeks. Our game against England kicks of the tournament in Hong Kong on Friday week and we're genuinely excited with the group we are taking there," he said.

"It's great to have the talent of Rhodri and Adam come into the group and we also expect Angus and Ben to offer something different. We also appreciate the regions for their co-operation in the release of their players," he added.
