CWMBRAN Celtic are fifth in Division Two of the Welsh Football League after they drew, amazingly, for the 11th time in 21 starts on the weekend.

This time the score was 1-1 at Undy Athletic. It means they can still get promoted but they are an outside bet.

Celtic lead 1-0 at the break at The Causeway against Undy via a Dominic Connor goal, but the home side eventually levelled matters via a 25-yard free kick from Tom Hooper.

Gareth Cullimore also struck the bar with a close-range header for Undy, whose substitute forward Ollie Beckett put am even closer chance wide of the target.

There was more bad news for Undy when midfielder Ben Davies snapped medial ligaments in a knee and now faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Celtic, who selected Lewis Watkins ahead of Giles Cutlan in goal, saw good chances wasted by Andrew Larcombe and Owen Llewellyn with Rhys Williams also seeing a shot strike the woodwork.

There were other opportunities for both sides to have won this encounter with Celtic taking their recent record to three wins and eight draws from 12 outings and this was their tenth consecutive game without a clean-sheet.

Celtic were in action last night (Tuesday) after the Free Press went to print, when they were due to visit Jenner Park to tackle Barry Town United, the only side to secure promotion thus far.

Panteg remain ninth in Division Three after a 2-0 home defeat second-placed Ammanford.

Panteg were also due to play last night. They were in action in the Gwent Senior Cup semi final against Monmouth Town at Newport Stadium
