THE majority of tourists are ignorant about the vaccines they take to combat holiday infections and many travelled unprotected to high-risk destinations, according to a survey by vaccine company Pasteur Merieux MSD. Nearly a third of UK holidaymakers questioned could not remember which vaccines they had been given, even for their most recent trip, and 80% of those having had typhoid inoculations were unaware they offered three years' protection - most presuming they were protected for much longer and some assuming it was for 10 years.
