AYR United last night agreed a #90,000 deal for Stranraer central defender Mark Campbell, pipping Premier League Motherwell.

Stranraer manager Campbell Money said: ''We have accepted Ayr's bid for Mark. Obviously I am sorry to see him go as it will be difficult to replace him, but we could not stand in his way.''

Campbell recently spent a week training with Motherwell and at one stage it looked as if he would be heading for Fir Park, until Dalziel made his move.

Dalziel has also fixed up

former Preston defender Dean Barrick and former Hibs and Falkirk defender Brian Hamilton until the end of the season.

Hamilton has been looking for a club since he left Falkirk a month ago at the end of his contract.
