A LAST note on the anti-Aids advert. I wondered if the French have been having us on and it is merely revenge against the current advert for Stella Artois on our screens which shows a French First World War innkeeper hiding a shot-down British airman. When the Germans arrive in search of the airman, the innkeeper has to distract them by giving up the luckless pilot or faces losing a pint of his reassuringly expensive lager. Stereotypically of a mistakenly capitulating French nation, our man is turned in. Blatantly racist in its implications that the French would sooner turn in one of our boys than lose a pint of beer.
