Close family and friends gathered at St Giles' Cathedral yesterday for the funeral of Lord Morison, the outspoken judge who died of cancer at the age of 74.

Among the mourners was his wife of 25 years, Birgitte, and his children, Joanne and Simon, from his first marriage.

Born Alistair Morison in Edinburgh in 1931, he was known to his friends as Malcolm and later nicknamed Tiger for his tenacious courtroom style. Tributes were paid by his friend Lord Cameron of Lochbroom, his son Simon and his grandson Ruaraidh Hunter.
