LEYLAND DAF workers yesterday presented a 22,000-name petition to the

Prime Minister urging the Government to do more to save jobs at the

truck company. Workers from the factory in Leyland, Lancashire, arrived

at Downing Street in a new Daf truck to deliver the petition. Mr Bill

Jordan, president of the Amalgamated Engineering and Electrical Union,

said: ''We hope that the Prime Minister will put action behind his words

about defending Britain's manufacturing industry.''
