TRADE unions and pools company executives have formed an alliance to

stop job losses in the industry after the introduction of the National

Lottery. The campaign team includes the managing directors of Vernons

and Littlewoods, Union of Shop, Distributive and Allied Workers

president Audrey Wise MP, and other union officials. The group says the

Government will give the lottery unfair advertising and tax advantages

which could cost thousands of jobs in Merseyside, Cardiff, and Glasgow.

The jobs of 75,000 collectors are also under threat.
