The Guild of Scotch Quality Meat Suppliers has announced that bull
beef will no longer be accepted for its quality assurance scheme. The
guild, which represents 22 abattoirs and wholesalers in Scotland, had
made the decision following representations from sectors of the retail
trade. Guild chairman Eddie Bissett stated: ''The quality end of the
retail market has indicated to us that bull beef in unacceptable.''
