KUALA LUMPUR: The first of 28 British Hawk fighters, which Malaysia

bought in an arms deal that has caused problems for both governments,

was delivered yesterday at Butterworth Air Force Base near Penang. The

House of Commons is investigating whether the #1 billion deal to buy the

jets in 1988 was secured by promising #234m to a Malaysian dam project

-- Britain's biggest foreign aid commitment. It is claimed that the

Pergau dam was uneconomic and a waste of British taxpayers' money.
