WASHINGTON: Senator Edward Kennedy said that the University of Notre

Dame's ''Fighting Irish'' football team, which hails from Indiana but

has a huge following in the United States, may play the US Naval Academy

in Dublin in 1996. The Massachusetts Democrat said the Navy had given

the academy permission to arrange for the game to be played in Dublin

and he hoped it would further the cause of peace. ''Friends of Ireland

everywhere will be hoping that by the time the 1996 game is played,

there will be lasting peace in all of Ireland, north and south,'' said

Kennedy.
