AN undercover detective was yesterday jailed for nine months for

causing the deaths of two men on a stolen police motor-cycle in a crash

which sparked off a riot. A jury at Winchester Crown Court took six

hours to decide that Robert Wallington's dangerous driving killed Shaun

Starr, 37, and pillion passenger Keith Buck, 18, in the tragedy in

Hartcliffe, Bristol. The two died from multiple injuries when the

motorcycle was in collision with Wallington's unmarked police car. Their

deaths in July last year were followed by three nights of rioting on the

Hartcliffe estate. Damage estimated at #750,000 was caused to shops,

houses, and cars as youths battled with police after news of the

incident spread.
