ALAN Shearer hit a double for Blackburn Rovers yesterday after having

come on 11 minutes from time in the 3-0 victory over Drogheda United at

United Park.

The England striker, out of the game snce last January, showed he had

lost none of his scoring touch as he added to Mark Atkins' opening goal

after 72 minutes. First he nodded home from six yards after substitute

keeper Alan Kane was only able to parry an effort from Lee Makel. Then

right on the final whistle it was Shearer again with a glancing header

from a Stuart Ripley cross.
