THE BBC described as ''stale gossip and speculation'' a report
yesterday that TV newsreader Martyn Lewis is being dropped from the
flagship Nine O'Clock News bulletin. The report in London's Evening
Standard said Mr Lewis, who hit the headlines himself recently when he
made a plea for fewer gloomy stories and more good news, was being
replaced by Peter Sissons of the Six O'Clock News.

It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
