TWO thugs who held a customer hostage at knifepoint during a raid on a bookmaker's shop have been caged for a total of 10-and-a-half years.
Alan Brown, 20, and Kyle McCusker, 21, are already serving five years each at Polmont Young Offenders' Institution for an armed robbery carried out 17 days after the bookies raid.
Yesterday temporary judge Rita Rae QC ordered Brown to be detained for five years and jailed McCusker for five years and six months.
These sentences will run at the end of the ones they are now serving.
They were found guilty of robbing Coral bookmakers in High Street, Newarthill, Lanarkshire, of £677 on May 11, 2007.
Wearing masks, they held a knife at customer Christopher Thomson's neck and ordered staff to open the safe.
