EBBW Vale may have lost the Principality Premiership Grand Final to Pontypridd and South African star Carl Meyer to Newport Gwent Dragons in the past week but since then it’s been all good news for the Steelmen.

The Eugene Cross Park outfit have enjoyed a remarkable return to the Premiership this season, pushing Ponty all the way at Sardis Road last Sunday and then seeing Meyer earn a professional contract with the Dragons.

Earlier this week they secured the signings of loosehead prop Ian George, wing Steffan Jones and flanker Luke Crocker.

Vale also announced that they had retained the services of Ronny Kynes, Cameron Regan, Rhys Clarke and Gareth Williams.

And the good news keeps on coming for Jason Strange’s men as Owen Williams, Dan Haymond, Craig Duncan, Tom Watkins and Ryan Gardiner have now all re-signed for next season.

A statement on the club website reads: “Experienced wing Owen Williams has been invaluable to the coaches and players on and off the field this year, and will be looking to add to the six tries he crossed for this season.

“Dan Haymond, a product of Abergavenny RFC, begins his fifth season having already given sterling service at fly-half and full-back.

“An exciting broken field runner, Dan will look to build on his good form during the last season.

“Tom Watkins will once again provide experience and versatility within the squad; an excellent clubman, he has never let the Steelmen down at wing, full-back and with a few cameos at centre thrown in.

“Outside back Craig Duncan, a product of the town’s excellent rugby nursery, RTB RFC will be looking to recapture the early season form that saw him take the team by storm with a debut try and two assists with quality line breaks in the league fixture at Cross Keys.

“This saw him mentioned in despatches by Welsh coaching guru Allan Lewis and an action shot in the Wales v Australia programme.

“Craig has continued to work hard at his game with the coaching staff, with regular rugby at RTB keeping him match fit.

“Speed merchant Ryan Gardiner has yet to make his debut for the Steelmen after suffering a pre-season knee injury.

“Ryan worked hard through the rehab process with the Steelmen's medical team and has impressed coaches and players alike in training with the development in his game.

“He is firmly expected to make a breakthrough in the coming season.”
