EBBW Vale boss Nigel Davies says his side face their toughest test of the season so far when they attempt to extend their winning start to the Principality Premiership at Llandovery, writes Chris Kirwan.

The Steelmen have won all three games so far under new head coach Davies, who took the reins from Jason Strange in the summer.

They triumphed at Bridgend on opening weekend, beat Newport with a bonus point at Eugene Cross Park and then rather laboured to a 22-0 home success against Neath last Saturday.

The former Wales and Scarlets coach is content given that his side have scored 10 tries and conceded just two.

However he knows his team need to up their game at Church Bank against a Drovers unit who have also made a super start to the campaign with wins against Cross Keys, Llanelli and Bridgend.

"It will be the biggest challenge we've faced so far. Llandovery are a very good team and play a very good brand of rugby," said Davies.

"I know a lot of their players (from his time with the Scarlets) and it will be an interesting test because they play from all over the park and have some really dangerous runners.

"We've won our first three games but have only just done enough. I want us to go to Llandovery and express ourselves a bit more.

"It's a tough place to go and you can't go there and hide, you've got to be attacking and take every opportunity you can, which is something we are not doing at the moment.

"We are not creating enough opportunities and when we do we are not finishing them. We've got to balance that with one of our big strengths, which is our set piece."

The Steelmen won the corresponding fixture last season 22-13 thanks to a powerful first half performance, making it a league double after they edged a 30-29 thriller at Eugene Cross Park.
