WALES internationals Hallam Amos and Tyler Morgan won’t make their return for Newport Gwent Dragons against Ealing Trailfinders this weekend.

The national dual contracted duo had an extended break after their summer tour exertions in New Zealand, where wing Amos started all three Tests and centre Morgan played against the Chiefs.

They have linked up again with their Dragons teammates but did not play in last Friday’s friendly victory against Cardiff Blues and will sit out Saturday’s encounter with Ealing in Ystrad Mynach (kick-off 3pm).

The Scarlets are bringing back Jonathan Davies, Scott Williams and Liam Williams for their friendly against Bath on Saturday but the Dragons will not rush their bright prospects.

Backs coach Shaun Connor said: “Tyler may be available for Exeter (at Rodney Parade a week on Friday) while Hallam might have another week off after playing the Tests but we hope to have them available for Ulster on opening weekend, if not then definitely Zebre in our first home game.”

The Dragons are set to ring the changes after beating the Blues 38-28 with the side likely to look similar to the Development XV that beat Principality Premiership new boys RGC 1404 at the start of the month after a team bonding trip to north Wales.

There will be a smattering of experienced players involved among the youth but centre Sam Beard, a summer recruit from Edinburgh, will sit it out with the hip injury that ruled him out of the Blues win. He has returned to training but will not be risked against the Trailfinders.

“There will be quite a few of the boys that played against RGC with some young players getting game time,” said Connor.

“It’s a perfect opportunity to get a look at them, we’ve had a large squad training but now they get a chance to get out there and impress.

“It’s only fair to give the whole squad a chance and the beauty is that the first half hour against the Blues was as good as I’ve seen the Dragons play for a while, so the boys will have to perform well if they are to put their hands up for selection against Exeter and then Ulster.”

Saturday’s friendly fixture (kick-off 3pm) takes place at the region’s training base in Ystrad Mynach and is free for season ticket holders, who must get a match ticket from the Dragons ticket office.

Entry costs £10 for adults, £5 for concessions and £2 for under-16s. There is no parking at the ground.

- The dates for rounds one to four of the Challenge Cup will be announced at midday on Friday. The Dragons have been drawn with Worcester, Brive and Russian side Enisei-STM.
