STEVE Law reckons last Saturday’s defeat to Aberavon will give Bedwas extra motivation for their return to the Talbot Athletic Ground on Sunday (kick-off 3.30pm).

The Wizards’ 28-9 victory over Law’s men ended up giving them home advantage for this weekend’s Principality Premiership tier one play-off semi-final.

Whoever comes out on top in Aberavon will then face either Merthyr or National Cup winners RGC 1404 in the grand final six days later.

Bedwas head coach Law has made a couple of changes to his XV after that disappointing result last time out.

“We made more mistakes, gave away more penalties and they had more territory than us, and that was the deciding factor,” said Law.

“They didn’t create anything in open play or through phase ball but there was some poor play from individuals and our decision making let us down.

“There are a few things about Aberavon which we will reinforce on Sunday but we put a lot of time and effort into last weekend’s game.

“I’d like to think there is a bit more motivation for the boys after last weekend but the result won’t have any bearing on Sunday.

“Both sides are very competitive and it’s all on the day. Home advantage will have a small part to play and I would be more confident if the game was at Bedwas.”

He added: “Preparations are going well but there’s not a lot more we can do with them at this time of the year.

“We made training a bit fun for them on Tuesday with a game of football.

“There are two or three changes to the side from the last game and possibly a different mindset in the back row.”

Law feels that Aberavon are “up there with the best sides in the Premiership” and can be at their most dangerous out wide and through their driving lineout.
