NEWPORT RFC stalwarts Dennis Bennett, Dave Griffiths and Kevin Jarvis have joined the Black and Ambers’ interim board.

The Principality Premiership club have been restructuring since the Welsh Rugby Union bought Rodney Parade and took over the Dragons.

Chairman Will Godfrey is the sole member of the previous board to remain with Tony Brown, Martyn Hazell, Rohit Kulkarni, Alex James, Roland Mason, Dylan Matthews, Jim McCreedy and David Watkins standing down.

Secretary Bennett and Griffiths and Jarvis, founder members of the Friends of Newport Rugby Trust, have joined Godfrey as an interim board.

They are working with the WRU and Rodney Parade staff to prepare for the coming campaign and an annual general meeting will be called in August.

A club statement read: “The current focus for the new board is to put in place a structure for managing the operation of the business and the team.

“There is a large amount of legal work to enable the separation of the two old companies/teams and the Rodney Parade Ltd organisation.”
