EBBW Vale will try to ensure RGC 1404 fall at the first hurdle in the defence of the WRU National Cup, writes Chris Kirwan.

The north Walians will travel to Eugene Cross Park on Saturday, January 6 with the Steelmen gunning for revenge after a pair of Premiership defeats in Colwyn Bay last season.

Cross Keys have home advantage for a first round clash with Pontypridd, who they memorably beat at the Millennium Stadium in 2012 but who have since edged some cup thrillers.

Pontypool upset Llanelli and Cardiff on their own turf last season but this time face Championship opposition first up with a home tie against Tata Steel.

Newbridge also face rivals from the second tier with a trip to Rhydyfelin while Newport are on the road with a clash against Swansea.

Bedwas face a potential banana skin at Narberth while Bargoed host Trebanos.

The draw for the plate sees Risca attempting to upset holders Penallta on their own turf on the weekend of October 7.
