Division One (Second XIs)

CHEPSTOW Seconds skipper Jon Huws claimed team spirit was the key to his championship-winning side's undefeated season, writes Bob Cypher.

“We have worked for each other but still managed to have a laugh along the way,” he said, after the Seconds won their last match of the season at Whitchurch-Heath on Saturday.

“It seems that, in every match, there has been a youth player who has stepped up to the plate to see us to victory.

“We batted first and scored 200, highlighted by Tuhin Gavand's 85 and supported by Jamie Rayner, Scott Bailey and Thomas Franklin, who all made scores in the 20s.

“Then we bowled out Whitchurch for 85 with Louis Fawsitt and Huw Rogers bowling excellent opening spells, taking a wicket each.

“Ben Kellaway, Tuhin and Ollie Rayner picked up four wickets to finish off the innings.

“It was another good game where everyone played well and contributed to a team win.

"We are obviously delighted to finish the season undefeated, and it’s a great achievement for all the boys. I'm proud of them all.”
