DRAGONS head coach Bernard Jackman was frustrated by TMO trouble for the second week on the spin after Friday's 35-18 defeat to Edinburgh.

The hosts took the Guinness PRO14 spoils at Myreside thanks to tries by Blair Kinghorn, Sam Hidalgo-Clyne, Junior Rasolea and Robbie Fruean while all the Rodney Parade region could muster was six penalties by Gavin Henson.

However, it looked like they had made it 20-17 with a conversion to come when number eight Harri Keddie went over in the 57th minute.

South African referee Stuart Berry awarded the try but Scottish television match official Charles Samson told him to pause and then decided that the footage showed wing Hallam Amos’ left foot had hit the touchline.

It was an extremely tight call and came a week after the TMO in the 39-16 loss to Leinster failed to spot a hold on flanker James Thomas in the move for the first try and a knock-on in the build-up to another.

“Last week Greg Garner accepted that the TMO was wrong – we went through the proper channels and the head of referees accepted there were blatant errors – and we will have a close look at this one because it looks like a try,” said Jackman.

“Away from home you don’t get the rub of the green so we just have to wear it I suppose and the referee wasn’t the reason we lost the game to Edinburgh, he was good.”

The Dragons have failed to cross the line in their opening two games – they were awarded a penalty try against Leinster for a high tackle on wing Ashton Hewitt – and Jackman wants a ruthless streak to go with their enterprise.

“First 10 minutes we played with a lot of width but what is frustrating is that we are very loose with the ball when we get to the 22.

“We make breaks and then it’s all-or-nothing rather than being patient, so that’s something we need to work on.

“The good thing is that we are creating opportunities but the big disappointment was that defensively we had seven or eight really bad reads or systems errors.

“But we will fix that and it’s individuals having bad habits that haven’t been worked out of their games yet.”

The Dragons lost scrum-half Charlie Davies (head) and centre Sam Beard (ribs) to injury in the first quarter and they will be assessed next week ahead of Friday’s home meeting against Connacht.

Jackman is confident the influential pair of back row forward Ollie Griffiths (hip) and scrum-half Sarel Pretorius (calf) will be back to face his former province.
