DRAGONS recruit Rhodri Williams has been selected by the Barbarians for their international match against England, writes Chris Kirwan.

The scrum-half will feature in a star-studded line-up for the clash at Twickenham on Sunday, May 27.

Williams is heading for Rodney Parade after two successful seasons with Bristol. The former Scarlet, capped three times in 2013/14, hopes that a return to Wales can reignite his international ambitions in World Cup year.

The 25-year-old, who was named in the Championship Dream Team for his 2017/18 exploits, can give Warren Gatland a timely nudge on a big stage when he forms part of a Barbarians squad that are led by Ireland and Connacht centre Bundee Aki.

Williams' former Bristol coach Pat Lam is in charge and has also selected Ospreys, Wales and Lions openside Justin Tipuric, Australia hooker Tatafu Polota-Nau, New Zealand flanker Victor Vito, Scotland scrum-half Greig Laidlaw and All Blacks speedster Charles Piutau.

The fixture takes place the day after the Aviva Premiership final and is a warm-up ahead of England’s tour to South Africa.
