THE Dragons' first friendly of pre-season has been switched to Ealing Trailfinders’ Vallis Way home.

The clash with the English Championship promotion hopefuls on Saturday, August 11 was originally planned for Bedwas’ Bridge Field.

However, Bernard Jackman’s side will now travel over the bridge to face the Trailfinders, who overpowered an experimental Dragons team in horrendous conditions when they travelled to Ystrad Mynach in the summer of 2016.

The clash could mean a reunion for hooker Rhys Lawrence, who moved to Rodney Parade from Vallis Way this summer, while wing/centre Pat Howard went the other way.

The Dragons entertain Northampton in Newport the following Friday (kick-off 7.30pm) before their final Guinness PRO14 tune-up against Gloucester at Kingsholm on Thursday, August 23 (kick-off 7.45pm).

Ross Moriarty will not feature against his old Cherry and Whites teammates – or at all in pre-season – following his red card for Wales against Argentina.

The back row forward was given a four-week ban with a disciplinary hearing deeming that the three friendlies counted towards the suspension and ruling him out of the opening round of the PRO14.

The day after the Saints friendly the new Dragons U23s will host RGC 1404 at their Ystrad Mynach training base.
