TWO sets of brothers are celebrating after winning Welsh boxing titles at the weekend, writes Bob Cypher.

Chepstow BC’s Jerry, 11, and Gussy Cash, 13, and clubmates Kayd, 13, and Cai Dean, 11, won the titles in Cardiff to delight the club’s head coach Steve Woods.

“Both Cai and Jerry boxed well and Jerry kept control of his bout, landing much cleaner shots and kept the pressure on his opponent,” he said.

“This was a fantastic day for all the coaches seeing all the hard work paying off.

“To have four Welsh champions in one weekend is very special and, if we add Pat Mullane’s success a month ago, our gym can be proud of having five Welsh title-holders among the members.

“We have probably made history by having two sets of brothers winning the titles in the same weekend.

“All the coaches are extremely proud of the lads’ achievements.

“We are waiting to hear if either Gussy or Kayd are picked to represent Wales at the Great Britain Schools Championship later this month.
