Sudbrook 1sts (209-5) lost to Pentyrch 1sts (210-5) by 5 wickets

DESPITE an opening stand of 96, Sudbrook Firsts were unable to develop the good start into an unassailable lead, losing batsmen regularly for low scores, writes Bob Cypher.

After Ross Lewis (66) and Matthew Spencer (32) departed, the next four batsmen were unable to kick on after making good starts and the home team’s innings ended on 209 for the loss of just half the available batsmen.

In reply, Pentyrch lost opener Jack Lewis who was bowled by Jon Clements, but fellow opener Jamie Mills was undefeated on 115 when the visitors achieved their target.

In Division 2, Sudbrook Seconds lost at Crumlin Seconds by four wickets.

Adam Nelson was Sudbrook’s top scorer as they posted 202 all out but Crumlin opener Scott Evans set the tone with 104 and the home side won it in the 40th over.
