NEWPORT will lock horns with Newbridge at the Welfare Ground on Saturday, August 18 (kick-off 2.30pm).

It will be the Black and Ambers’ third tune-up for the Premiership after a Saturday, August 4 meeting with Hartridge, of Division One East, at Llanwern High School and a trip to Rosslyn Park the following weekend.

Newport's last competitive game with ‘Bridge, who finished fifth in the Championship, was in February, 2005 when they won 41-12 at Rodney Parade.

Newbridge play in the Penallta Sevens on Saturday, July 28 and then face Cross Keys, Abercarn and Risca in a round robin tournament at Pandy Park on Saturday, August 4.

They hope to arrange a friendly the week before entertaining the Black and Ambers, then travel to Newport HSOB before their Championship opener with Rhydyfelin at home.
