DRAGONS speedsters Jared Rosser and Will Talbot-Davies have been named in the Wales squad for the Rugby World Cup Sevens along with Pontypool’s Ethan Davies.

Wing Rosser and full-back Talbot Davies have been given the nod for the tournament in San Francisco along with sevens specialist and playmaker Davies.

Rosser, 20, enjoyed a breakthrough season with the Dragons in 2017/18, playing 25 games and finishing the campaign with seven tries in seven games.

Talbot-Davies, also 20, made his regional bow in November, 2016 and his PRO12 debut later that season but played just three times for Bernard Jackman's side after being sent to hone his skills on the sevens circuit.

Full internationals Lloyd Williams and Cory Allen have also been selected by head coach Gareth Williams for America.

Wales take on Zimbabwe on Friday (kick-off 10pm) for the right to face the hosts in the round of 16 with the tournament changing to knockout rugby from the off for the first time.

Head coach Gareth Williams said: "This is a great culmination to our season. The World Cup has been an aim of ours for the past 18 months and we're excited with the squad we have put together.

"We are building nicely towards the opening match versus Zimbabwe, and starting well against their physicality and elusiveness is a key aim of ours.

"The tournament structure is different, but exciting, and we are eager to get out there and get things started."

Wales Sevens: Luke Treharne, Ethan Davies, Lloyd Williams, Luke Morgan, Owen Jenkins, Tom Williams, Cory Allen, Afon Bagshaw, Adam Thomas, Cai Devine, Jared Rosser, Ben Roach, Will Talbot-Davies.
