THE Dragons hope to feed off the energy of their Wales Grand Slam winners when they attempt to double the Ospreys on Saturday.

The Rodney Parade region’s contingent from Warren Gatland’s squad are all set to take to the field in the Guinness PRO14 clash at Liberty Stadium (kick-off 3pm).

Back row forwards Ross Moriarty and Aaron Wainwright and hooker Elliot Dee featured in all five games of the Grand Slam.

Full-back/wing Hallam Amos came off the bench against Italy while tighthead Leon Brown, recently back from a broken thumb, did not make any matchday squads.

Captain and lock Cory Hill is unlikely to play again for the Dragons this season after suffering an ankle injury in the process of scoring the key try against England.

The return of Moriarty and Wainwright would be a particular boost given that the Dragons will be without Ollie Griffiths (bicep), Nic Cudd (knee) and Harri Keddie (toe) for the rest of the season, while James Benjamin (neck) will not be back for Swansea on Saturday.

“As long as they are all fit they will all be in contention to play because it’s an important fixture for us,” said forwards coach Ian Evans.

“It was a spectacular weekend to get the Grand Slam and those boys will no doubt be full of energy and on a high. It will be good to feed off their energy leading into this game.

“The Ospreys are inundated with internationals, but they had internationals at Christmas time and the boys stepped up.”

Number eight Moriarty was a leading figure of the Six Nations clean sweep and was one of the stars of the tournament with his hard carrying – his tally of 51 was Wales’ highest – and defensive hits.

The 24-year-old summer signing from Gloucester came off the bench in Rome and started every other fixture.

That means that Moriarty has now played more Tests in 2018/19 than he has club games, but the Dragons are hopeful that the back row forward will be fit to feature for them for the first time since suffering a concussion against Clermont Auvergne in December.

Flanker Wainwright and hooker Dee both featured as impact subs for the tournament with their sole starts coming in the win in Rome.
