Cardiff Central (200-9) lost to Chepstow 2nds (201-6) by 4 wickets
ALYN Franklin took three wickets for 32 runs and made a useful 40 contribution as Chepstow Seconds won in Cardiff, writes Bob Cypher.
Tudor Morgan-Huggett removed one of Central’s openers before Aaron Jones ran out the other, Shamas Trabaiz, for 25.
Tuhin Gavand took the next two wickets for single-figure scores and Franklin trapped Hussain Ahmad lbw for 30. Despite stubborn resistance by Tariq Awan (34 not out), his partners fell regularly.
In reply, Jones made 31 before being caught and bowled by Santosh Singh, and Jamie Rayner (68), Jarrod Bluck (13) and Franklin (40) steered Chepstow towards the target, with skipper James Bostock (6) crossing the line.
Bostock was pleased with the victory.
“The scoreboard tells the story - we bowled okay and knocked off the runs comfortably,” he said.
“There’s still plenty of room for improvement but we are warming into the season nicely.”
