Sudbrook 251-5 beat Miskin Manor (247 all out) by 5 wickets
SUDBROOK Firsts retained top spot thanks to a fine all-round display by their bowlers and an unbeaten 109 by Ross Lewis, writes Bob Cypher.
After visiting skipper Dan Hay won the toss and asked Sudbrook to field, Mitchell Slape made early breakthroughs, having Carl Whiteley caught behind for four runs by wicketkeeper Lewis before bowling Matthew Jacka for five.
Ryan Hudson had Huw Beaverstock caught by Matthew Kinchin for 15 and Miskin were in trouble at 27-3.
But George Harvey and Hay rallied putting on 146 for the fourth wicket before Harvey (55) was bowled by Kel Stevens and Scott O’Leary was caught and bowled Hay for 81.
Ashley James made 15 before becoming Stevens’ second victim and Chris Owen made a useful 26 before being bowled by home skipper Jamie Watkins.
Slape was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets at a cost of 27 runs, while Hudson finished with 1-19 in five overs.
In reply, Lewis lost opening partner Matthew Spencer early on but Kinchin (24), Stevens (29) and Matthew Burton (32) kept him company as Sudbrook reached their target with five overs to spare.
Sudbrook Firsts visit Cardiff Gymkhana on Saturday (12.30pm start).
