Chepstow's knockout blow

A COALITION of Chepstow groups including Bulwark FC, Thornwell FC and Chepstow RFC last week held a fundraising It's a Knockout tournament.

Combat - the Communities of Bulwark and Thornwell - is a joint venture designed to improve local facilities ad opportunities.

A Combat spokesperson explained: "In the past Bulwark and Thornwell have been tucked away, virtually unnoticed, as a suburb of Chepstow.

"Schools, sport and activity groups, churches and clubs have become an essential part of our social structure. Monmouthshire County Council's Rural Community Action Group were aware that many of the organisations were trying to access funding for similar activities and invited groups to become a single force working for the benefit of the community."

Combat now consists of seven members including Bulwark FC, Thornwell FC and Chepstow RFC. It was they who benefited from Sunday's community funday, organised by committee chairwoman Irene Williams.
