PARALYMPIAN Josie Pearson from Herefordshire is appearing in a fundraising campaign launched by Sir Paul McCartney and BT to help raise £2 million for ParalympicsGB.

The money raised will support athletes heading to the Beijing Games this year, as well as being invested in the future of disability sport in the run up to London 2012 and beyond.

Pearson, whose sport is wheelchair rugby, has a staring role in the advert alongside fellow Paralympians. But the 22-year-old will not only be the youngest member of the British wheelchair rugby team in Beijing she is also the sole female member of the team.

When she travels to Beijing this September she will make history by becoming the first ever British women to compete in the wheelchair rugby at a Paralympic Games.

Phil Lane, CEO of ParalympicsGB comments: "We are delighted that Sir Paul McCartney has been involved with this initiative. His commitment has been incredible and this fundraising campaign would not have happened without him."
