PONTYPOOL TOWN 0 YNYSDDU CRUSADERS 2 - LOOKING to improve upon previous weeks, Ponty faced the daunting task of hosting current second-placed Ynysddu Crusaders.

The opening exchanges were pretty even as both teams shared good spells of possession and created many chances; however, both defences and ’keepers were on form as it remained goalless.

Unfortunately for Ponty a single lapse of concentration in midfield led to the visitors scoring the opening goal after 21 minutes as the defence and ’keeper froze to allowthe shot to find the net.

Credit to Ponty, though, as they didn’t let the goal affect them as it has in so many games this season already and they did not concede again until after the break.

With plenty of positives to take into the second half, Ponty were immediately dealt a severe blow when ’keeper Ben Edwards made a calamitous mistake within seconds of the re-start by allowing a tame shot from distance to creep past him into the net, but showed great character afterwards to redeem himself with some good saves.

With 20 minutes remaining fresh legs were duly introduced into the engine room as the game was stretched with some end-to-end football, but despite their efforts Ponty were defeated 2-0.
