YOUNG cricketers looking to develop their skills have the chance to win free coaching with Glamorgan CCC with a new 10-week coaching programme at the National Cricket Centre in Cardiff thanks to Newport-based technology company SPTS Technologies.

SPTS has become the principle sponsor of the Short Legs coaching programme run by Glamorgan's award-winning community team.

Participants in the programme will receive coaching from ECB-qualified coaches with all equipment provided in fun weekly sessions on Saturday mornings between 16 January and 19 March.

As part of their sponsorship of the scheme, SPTS will provide free places on the course for two young people wishing to hone their skills and 10 single 'taster' sessions.

Glamorgan community manager Mark Frost hopes that the scheme will appeal to young cricketers already involved in the sport and those wishing to try it for the first time.

"Short Legs is designed to be fun and accessible and has proved extremely popular in recent years as it is open to all beginners," he said.

"The emphasis is on providing a fun and safe environment for young people to start to develop their cricket skills, and we're extremely grateful to SPTS for their support."

SPTS Corporate Marketing Director Destanie Clarke commented, "We hope to encourage more young people to pursue cricket as a result of our company's support."

"We're very pleased to be working with Glamorgan Cricket again, given the values that our organisations share when it comes to community involvement," she said.

"We hope that we can play our part in encouraging young people to participate in recreational sport."
