EBBW Vale were downed 49-31 by Moseley in an entertaining pre-season encounter at Billesley Common.
Cameron Regan and Ryan Gardiner went over for the Steelmen in the first half but their hosts crossed four times for a 28-12 lead.
The scores kept coming after the resumption with Dan Haymond, Dai Langdon, Ronny Kynes and Rhys Clarke and Pat Lewis scoring for last season's Principality Premiership runners-up to make it 35-31 before the West Midlanders pulled away in the closing stages.
NEWPORT also headed over the border and were beaten 56-27 by Rosslyn Park of English National One.
The Black and Ambers trailed 21-8 at the break with centre Haydn Palmer crossing and fly-half Julian Mogg kicking a penalty.
Mogg opened the scoring after the break but Rosslyn Park responded superbly to go 35-13 up.
Centre Paul King and back row forward Brendan Lampitt went over to give Newport a sniff at 35-27 but the hosts eased away in the closing stages.
BEDWAS hosted English opposition and they enjoyed a comfortable 73-21 win against Henley Hawks at Bridge Field.
They ran in 11 tries in the conditioning match of four 25-minute spells with wing Lewis Hudd (3), lock Geraint Edmunds (2), centres Gabe Davies and Mike Callow, and back row forward Deri Mattravers, James Sawyer, George Lee and Sam Feehan all on the scoresheet.
