NEWPORT Gwent Dragons winger Aled Brew will get a chance to press his claims for a regional recall when he takes part in a mouth-watering Principality Premiership derby this afternoon, writes Chris Kirwan.

The 29-year-old former Wales speedster will make his Newport debut in their clash with Ebbw Vale at Eugene Cross Park.

Brew slots in on the right wing 14 years after his older brother Nathan made the first of the 24 appearances he made over two spells with the Black and Ambers.

Newport tinker with the side that made an excellent start to the season by beating Neath 26-22 last weekend with Owen Davies getting the nod at scrum-half and Dan Partridge slotting in at lock.

Ebbw Vale are also looking to keep their winning feeling after a hard-earned win at Swalec Cup holders Bridgend on opening weekend.

The Steelmen make two changes to the XV that triumphed 20-8 at the Brewery Field with Tom Watkins and Dai Langdon coming in at wing and fly-half respectively.

Centre Dom Franchi faces the side he left in the summer while Gethin Robinson, who racked up 246 appearances in black and amber, gets the not at tighthead.

Cross Keys will look to get their season up and running when they welcome Cardiff to Pandy Park.

Keys were the victims of a second half fightback by Llandovery at Church Bank last weekend and the management team expect a reaction against the Blue and Blacks, who they doubled last season.

Dragons full-back Geraint Rhys Jones is welcomed back at full-back while his former regional teammate Richie Rees makes his first start for the club at scrum-half.

Bedwas head west again this afternoon and will look to follow up last weekend's superb victory at Carmarthen Quins.

Head coach Steve Law tinkers with a winning formula to give his whole squad a chance to impress after their summer toil.

Club captain Dan Preece leads the side out after being on the bench in Carmarthen while Dragons fly-half Angus O'Brien starts at full-back and is joined by fellow Bedwas debutants Andy Evans and Gabriel Davies at wing and centre respectively.
